Here are the top stories today in Southampton:

  1. The MTA is not so quick to let your masks down. The MTA plans to keep the course by following the CDC mask mandate on trains, despite a federal court ruling on Monday. So what does that mean for Long Island travelers? The Long Island Rail Road is not ready to make any changes for commuters. So don't be so quick to get rid of your mask just yet. (Patch)
  2. A 14-year-old lawsuit brought by a former Hampton Bays diner owner has finally been settled. Southampton Town will pay $380,000 to settle with the owners of the Hampton Bays diner who claimed the town discriminated against them for catering to a Hispanic clientele.(Subscription: Newsday)
  3. This Saturday the Waterdrinker Tulip Festival will be in bloom with 1 million flowers, twice as many as last year. Waterdrinker Family Farm & Garden is at 663 Wading River Road in Manorville. (Subscription: Newsday)
  4. The Fourth of July Grucci fireworks display and concert at Bald Hill will be back this year for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic. Concerts will run from May 28 to Sept. 17. (Patch)
