Here are the top stories today in Southampton:

1. See adoptable pets in the Southampton area. This week the area shelters are bursting with kittens and puppies, yes, fuzzy, little balls of love. This is a must see, touch and cuddle. You can always foster if adoption is not right at this time. (Southampton Patch)

3. A 13 year old from Southampton was arrested and charged with "menacing and unlawful possession of a firearm for a person under 16, and given an appearance ticket to appear in family court with his parents," Southampton Town police said. The teen bought a BB gun from Amazon and began shooting bushes, when he saw workers, he started shooting them "to see their reaction," police said. (Southampton Patch)
4. On Sunday night, Jose CulajayAvila, 29, of Riverhead, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after he struck another vehicle in Riverside, police said. No one was injured. (Southampton Patch)
5. According to Southampton Town police, early Sunday at 12:11 a.m., Julio Vasquez Perez, 56, a Riverhead man, was arrested and charged with "aggravated DWI, moving from lane unsafely, and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle," police said. Officers witnessed "a driver heading north on Flanders Road near Old Quogue Road and failing to maintain his lane," police said. (Southampton Patch)
