Here are the top stories today in Southampton:
- The Drug Abuse Resistance Program, or D.A.R.E., a program that teaches youth good decision making about drugs, was reinstituted in the Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary School after a 14-year absence. On Thursday, the Southampton Police Department held a D.A.R.E. graduation at Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary School. Each sixth grader received a proclamation congratulating them on their successful completion of the program. (Southampton Patch)
- Metropolitan Airport News reported that Suffolk County approved the lease agreements of two companies that will comply with the Francis Gabreski Airport's master plan for aviation development at the airport. (Metropolitan Airport News)
- The Gilgo Beach murders are still not solved. Police launched a rebuilt Gilgo news website so more information can be given to the public, such as the release of a video of Megan Waterman at the Holiday Inn Express in Hauppauge in June 2010. It is suspected that Waterman left the hotel that night to meet her killer. Police are offering an historic $50,000 reward, the biggest reward offered in Suffolk County's history, for any information leading to an arrest. Call 1-800-220-TIPS. (News 12 Connecticut)
