🌱 Southampton Daily: 'The Hope Spot' + 'What I Need' + Is PSEG Ready?

Here are the top stories today in Southampton:

1. On Monday, the Shinnecock Bay and the efforts of Stony Brook University’s SoMAS were recognized with "The Hope Spot," a global recognition, by Mission Blue. Mission Blue is "an international organization that supports the protection of oceans worldwide." (Southampton Patch)
2. Katherine A. Moscoso, 24, a New Rochelle woman, was arrested and charged with DWI after she drove her car into a pole in Southampton, police said. The incident took place on Sunday at 4:02 a.m. on Montauk Highway. (Southampton Patch)
3. A new program called WIN, "What I Need" tackles learning loss caused by remote learning during the pandemic, is being utilized by students at Westhampton Beach Middle School. The program allows students to work with their teacher after school hours to catch up on lessons they missed. They also get to work together; about two dozen students attend on a daily basis. 4. We are approaching the 10th anniversary of Superstorm Sandy; you may recall no electric, no heat and lots of water and sand for the folks on the shores of Long Island. Is PSEG Long Island ready for summer 2022? PSEG Long Island has announced that it is prepared for hurricane season and to meet peak demand during extreme heat situations this summer. (PR Newswire)
5. The Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center in Hampton Bays has been trying to stop hunters from culling deer on that parcel of land for nearly 20 years. The killing of a deer three feet from the center, in January, sparked new legislation after safety concerns were raised. Lawmakers passed a bill that will ban hunting on that parcel in the future, now it is up to the governor to sign the bill. (Patch)
