1. Bayron Fajardo-Gonzalez, 34, was sentenced to 20 years to life Wednesday for murdering his girlfriend, Tania Fox, 45, in front of her 9-year-old daughter, in August 2020, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said. (Southampton Patch)
2. The Peconic Jitney wants to start service again since its trial run, a decade ago. The village boards whose jurisdiction includes the two landing sites, Long Wharf in Sag Harbor and Mitchell Park Marina in Greenport, have yet to schedule a vote on the contract to finalize the route. Sag Harbor village trustees will reportedly hold a public hearing on the ferry May 10, Greenport is still in question. (Dan's Papers)
3. The 5K Cherry Blossom Petal Run in the Village of Greenport, Spring 2022 will kick-off on Saturday, April 30, at 9 a.m. — rain or shine. Register in advance for $30 includes T-shirt ($35 day of/does not include free T-shirt). (Northforker)
4. On Wednesday, at Blydenburgh County Park in Smithtown, officials unveiled a new signboard, the first of many to be installed in Suffolk. The signs give nonverbal individuals the ability to communicate and use the parks. (Subscription: Newsday)
