Sunset Park: Here's Your Best Chance to Get Your Valuables Back After a Robbery

The NYPD's 72nd Precinct will run the registration station from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sep. 30.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — The NYPD's 72nd Precinct is making it easy for area residents to register their valuables for free with the department, increasing the chance the items will be returned to their owner in the case of a robbery.

A variety of valuables can be registered, including bikes, computers, video game systems and cell phones.

If the goods are ever stolen and subsequently recovered by police, the department will have a record of who they belong to. NYPD officers routinely encourage registration during community meetings, and say the process "takes only seconds."
