3 LI Students Selected As Finalists In Nationwide Science Competition

The finalists advance to a week-long tournament in May at the Regeneron Science Talent Search

SYOSSET, NY — Three high school students from Nassau County are among the finalists in a prestigious nationwide science and math competition.

Jacob Tyler Gross, a student at Roslyn High School; Vincent Weisi Huang, who attends Syosset High School and Natasha Kulviwat, a student at Jericho High School are vying for the top prize of $250,000 in the Regeneron Science Talent Search.

The Top 40 finalists were selected on Wednesday representing 36 schools across 19 states.

"Every year, the Regeneron Science Talent Search helps inspire and engage a new wave of talented young scientists with the potential to improve the world," said George D. Yancopoulos, M.D., Ph.D., Co-Founder, Board Co-Chair, President and Chief Scientific Officer of Regeneron.

Finalists will participate in a week-long competition from March 6-13, where they will undergo a rigorous judging process and compete for more than $1.8 million in awards.

The top 10 Regeneron Science Talent Search 2024 winners will be announced during an awards ceremony on March 12, streamed live from Washington D.C.

Kulviwat's project title is "The Neurobiology of Suicide: Blood-Brain Barrier Breakdown as a Novel Suicide-Risk Biomarker."

Huang's project is: "A Smart Computer Program LauePt4 for Recognizing and Simulating Laue Patterns and Its Applications."

Gross' project is entitled: "Investigating Synergistic Interactions Among SARS-CoV-2 Neutralizing Antibodies."

The Regeneron Science Talent Search is in its 83rd year.
