Nassau County Police say the right and center lanes of the Long Island Expressway are closing eastbound between exit 44 and 45 due to pothole damage.
The area is in the vicinity of Woodbury and is likely to cause delays.
Similar emergency repairs were observed Sunday night on the Northern State Parkway westbound near the South Oyster Bay Road exit.
Typically, big potholes occur following freezing and a period of rapid thawing.
