Motorcyclist Dies After Nassau Collision

Police said a motorcyclist collided with the driver of a sedan in Woodbury Tuesday night.

WOODBURY, NY — A motorcyclist died after he was hit by a driver Tuesday evening in Woodbury, police said.

The 31-year-old motorcyclist was riding on a 2020 Yamaha motorcycle on the Jericho Turnpike approaching Crossways Park Drive around 6:15 p.m., police said. A 28-year-old man driving a 2016 Toyota Camry driving east on the Jericho Turnpike made a left turn into an apartment complex when the two collided, police said.

The collision threw the motorcyclist from the vehicle and he suffered traumatic injuries, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries. The motorcyclist's name was withheld until his family could be notified.

The sedan driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of an injury that was not considered to be life-threatening. He was later released.

The Syosset Fire Department responded to the crash with two engines, an ambulance, a paramedic and a chief.
