Nassau Police Searching For 2 Missing Teenage Girls

Police say the two girls were last seen leaving the Mercy First facility in Syosset together. Do you know where they are?

UPDATE, MARCH 7: Police say they have located both girls.

SYOSSET, NY — Nassau County police are searching for two teenage girls who were last seen leaving the Mercy First facility in Syosset together Sunday afternoon.

Police say 15-year-old Aponte Highsmith and 14-year-old Jenell Nagamuthu were last seen leaving the facility, located at 525 Convent Road, at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27. They were reported missing on Feb. 28.

Police say Highsmith is a Hispanic girl, 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighing about 163 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Police do not know what she was wearing.

Nagamuthu is a Black girl, 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing about 145 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. Police do not know what she was wearing.

Police do not know where the girls may have been heading. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call the Missing Persons Squad at 516-573-7347, or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
