Overnight L.I.E. Closures Coming To North Hills

New overhead signs are being installed, the New York State Department of Transportation said.

NORTH HILLS, NY — Overnight closures are coming to both directions of the Long Island Expressway in the village of North Hills, the New York State Department of Transportation announced Friday.

The closures are expected for Tuesday between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. as new overhead signs are installed.

  • All eastbound lanes will be detoured onto the South Service Road between Exit 34 (New Hyde Park Road) and Exit 36 (Searingtown Road).
  • The westbound HOV lane will be closed from Exit 36 to Exit 34.

The Northern State Parkway will be available as an alternate route.

Motorists were urged by the department to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of one's driver's license.
