Syosset Among Best To Raise Families In New Rankings

SYOSSET, NY — Many people who live in Syosset think that it's a great place to raise a family. Now, there's some empirical evidence to back it up. A new ranking published by Niche found that some Long Island communities, including Syosset, are among the best in the country to raise a family in.

Niche just released its 2022 Best Places to Live in America rankings, and Long Island towns made the list. The company ranked 228 cities and 18,515 towns and neighborhoods across the country, using data from the U.S. Census, FBI, BLS, and CDC, along with millions of resident reviews. Niche said it considered factors such as affordability, the local housing market, neighborhood diversity, public schools, walkability and more.

Great Neck Gardens and Syosset were both ranked in the top 5 Best Places to Raise a Family.

There were multiple Long Island communities in the top 25 Best Places to Raise a Family:

3. Great Neck Gardens
5. Syosset
11. Jericho
12. East Hills
16. Manhasset Hills

Nassau County was ranked 18th overall in the Best Counties to Raise a Family. Suffolk County ranked 169.

The best places to live in America were:

1. Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania
2. City Center, California
3. Penn Wynne, Pennsylvania
4. Houserville, Pennsylvania
5. Cottonwood Creek South, Texas

Great Neck Plaza was also named the No. 10 overall Best Place to Live in America. Great Neck Gardens was ranked No. 18. They were the only Long Island communities to crack the top 25 in that listing.
