Long Island Home To 25 Of Top 100 Schools In New York For 2020

LONG ISLAND, NY — Niche, the rating site that periodically releases various school rankings, has come out with a new list that's a bit different than those it has come to be known for. In this one, Niche ranked what it called the top 100 schools in New York — and Long Island is home to 25 of them.

The new list differs slightly from others in that it includes both private and public schools. Furthermore elementary, middle and high schools all appear on the same list.

In New York, it's clear that Niche has a type. The 10 best schools in the state are private schools, all but one of which are in New York City. On Long Island, the top schools were found in Syosset, Jericho, Port Washington, Great Neck, Manhasset, Locust Valley, Dix Hills, Old Westbury, Stony Brook, New Hyde Park, Roslyn and Albertson.

Every school on the top 100 list received an A+ for an overall grade from Niche.

Of the top 100 schools in Connecticut, Niche concludes 48 were public schools.

Niche's methodology is based on an analysis of academic and student-life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, and feedback from Niche.com users.
