An overturned vehicle had shut lanes of the Long Island Expressway near Jericho on Friday afternoon, police said.

JERICHO, NY — An overturned vehicle was cleared from the Long Island Expressway on Friday afternoon, after several hours of delays and detours, Nassau police said.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. near Exit 40W for Jericho Turnpike, according to police and 511NY. All lanes were initially closed in both directions for emergency equipment. Westbound traffic was being detoured onto Jericho Turnpike.
