TARRYTOWN, NY — A tragic death in Tarrytown is believed to have been an apparent suicide, according to police.

The Tarrytown Police Department said that on Wednesday morning, a 34-year-old woman from Brooklyn jumped from the roof of 50 White Street.

Emergency responders were on scene and rushed the victim to the Westchester County Medical Center. Unfortunately, she later died from her injuries.

The tragic death has officials reminding the community about available resources for those in crisis that can help save lives.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and friends," Tarrytown police said in a statement released on social media today. "It serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health support and awareness. If anyone suffering from mental illness needs assistance, there are crisis lines and support networks available. Whether you’re facing mental health struggles, emotional distress, alcohol or drug concerns, or just need someone to talk to counselors are available by calling 988."
