Police: Mount Kisco Child Approached by Stranger; Witnesses Sought

Man told 10-year-old her mother had been in an accident and he was there to pick her up.

Mount Kisco Police are investigating an incident in which a man tried to lure a 10-year-old girl into going with him, telling the girl her mother had been in an accident.

The girl did not go with the man and was not injured, said police who are continuing to investigate the incident and are seeking anyone who might have been a witness.

The incident took place about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in front of the Saw Mill Club, 77 Kensico Drive. Police said an unidentified adult approached the girl in the area of the club's driveway and told the girl that her mother was in a car accident and he had come to pick her up.

Police said the child was suspicious of the man's statement and went into the club to get away from him. The child told her mother - who was not in an accident - about the incident and police were alerted.

Just before the man approached her, the girl noticed the man park a black, four-door car. Here's a description of the man involved:

- About 6-foot-tall

- Thin build

- Dark color eyes

- He wore dark clothing and a hoodie style jacket

- He spoke with a deep voice.

Police investigating the incident did not find the man involved in the incident. Police ask that anyone who may have seen the incident or has information about it call the Mount Kisco Detective Squad at 914-666-3855.
