Rabid Raccoon Found In Greenburgh
Anyone bitten by a rabid animal or who had contact with its saliva may need to receive post-exposure rabies treatment, health experts said.
GREENBURGH, NY — A raccoon that was acting aggressively in the town of Greenburgh has tested positive for rabies.
The animal was found Tuesday at the intersection of Reunion Road and Tradition Court, according to the Westchester County Department of Health.
Health officials said, if you, a family member or a pet may have had any contact with this raccoon, you should immediately call the Health Department at 914-813-5000.

When given early enough, before symptoms develop, the treatment is 100 percent effective, medical experts said.
