Tarrytown Car Accidents with Injuries

Tarrytown Police report there have been two recent three-car accidents in Tarrytown and several incidents on the Thruway Tarrytown emergency responders assisted with.

Two Three-Car Accidents with Injuries

On Nov. 30 at 5:49 p.m., a caller reported a three-car car accident on Benedict Avenue at Martling Avenue with possible injuries. Officers and Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps was dispatched, though Lieutenant William Herguth had no more information on the possible injuries. Tow trucks were requested by police.

Herguth said two cars had been stopped in traffic when a third car accelerated into one of them, which then hit the other in front of it. The driver told police she had beeen stepping on her brake but said the brakes were not working and the car accelerated instead, prompting the series of accidents.

On Nov. 4 at 5:15 p.m. police received a report of another car accident in front of 440 South Broadway. Officers on scene requested TVAC for an injured person. Again, one car collided into a second, which then hit a third.

On Dec. 6 at 8:48 p.m, a woman came into police headquarters to report that on Dec. 5 around 8:30 p.m., she sustained a left shoulder injury while riding in a National Taxi. She said the driver was talking on his cell phone and began losing control of the car. When he swerved to regain control, the passenger was allegedly thrown across the backseat striking the door. She said this caused her significant pain, for which she said she already went to Phelps Memorial Hospital emergency room for treatment. She wished blotter documentation made at this time. 

Tappan Zee Bridge

On Nov. 23 at 12:04 a.m. County Fire Control requested assistance from the Tarrytown Fire Department and TVAC for a mid-span multi-car accident on the Tappan Zee Bridge requiring an extrication.

On Dec. 5 at 7:20 p.m., County Fire Control requested an ambulance for an motor vehicle accident with a driver complaining of a leg injury on I-87 northbound, mile marker 13. TVAC responded and on scene requested the Fire Department to assist with removing the injured person from the car.
