Tarrytown Man Accused Of Being Drunk On Thruway, Crashes Car

Police said the man was found to be more than three times the legal limit for alcohol when he crashed his car.

TARRYTOWN, NY — A Tarrytown man was accused of being more than three times the legal limit for alcohol after a crash on the state Thruway.

The New York State Police said troopers responded to a one-car accident on Interstate 287 in the city of White Plains.

An investigation found a Toyota Camry traveling west on the Exit 6 ramp struck the guide rail and became disabled.

The uninjured driver — Eric M. Petrich, 46, of Tarrytown — was intoxicated, police said.

He was taken into custody and processed at the Tarrytown barracks, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.25 percent.

Petrich was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

He was turned over to a sober third party and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the City of White Plains Court Feb. 14.
