SBU's Maysonet Schedules Workouts with NFL Teams

Former Stony Brook football star had a productive Pro Day on Friday.

Miguel Maysonet will soon complete private workouts with the New York Giants, New York Jets and New England Patriots as a result of his performance at Friday's Pro Day at Stony Brook, according to a report published in Newsday.

Maysonet, a Riverhead High School product who played three standout seasons as a running back at Stony Brook University, ran 40-yard dash times of 4.45, 4.49 and 4.56 – which he couldn't do at the NFL combine in February due to a hamstring injury. Newsday reported that he also impressed NFL scouts with his bench press (225 pounds 21 times), short shuttle time (4.01 seconds), vertical jump (31-1/2 inches) and broad jump (8-9 and 8-11).

"I've gotta put Stony on the map,'' he told Newsday. "They've done so much for me, so for me to hear my name if I get drafted and see 'Miguel Maysonet from Stony Brook,' that'll be awesome. And a lot of people are going to go: 'Where the hell is Stony Brook?' ''
