Things to Do in Three Village: #42 – Check Out a Sci-Fi, Fantasy Convention

This coming weekend, I-CON will transform Stony Brook University into another world: one which will be populated by characters from popular movies, TV shows, comics and books in the science fiction, fantasy, and anime genres.

Highlights include gaming, a masquerade party, an "I-CON's Got Talent" competition, cosplay, a dealers' room featuring more than 80 vendors, and more.

The annual convention is in its 31st year after being originated as a tiny gathering by a group of science fiction fans at the university. Among its featured guests this year:

• Paul McGann, who portrays the eighth doctor in the Doctor Who series;
• Frazer Hines, also an actor in the Doctor Who series;
• Jeremy Bulloch, who played Boba Fett in Star Wars;
• Rekha Sharma, who has had roles in Battlestar Galactica, V, and Smallville;
• Nana Visitor, who has had roles in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Battlestar Galactica, and Friday the 13th; and more.
