Here are the top stories today in Three Village:
- A new airline will begin nonstop service from Long Island MacArthur Airport to Virginia and South Carolina starting in February. Breeze Airways, a low-cost carrier launched by JetBlue founder David Neeleman in 2018 that began flying this year, will become the fourth airline to operate out of the Islip Town-owned airport, joining Southwest, American and Frontier, in a move town officials said will boost the airport's reputation in the New York market. (Newsday)
- Held with the support of the Three Village School District, the Three Village Community Trust’s first annual Winter Coat Drive is now underway through Dec. 16. This is a wonderful opportunity for residents to help those in need by dropping off a winter coat at the Trust’s headquarters at the Bruce House, 148 Main St., Setauket. The Trust encourages community members to simply place their donation of clean winter coats on the front porch. Coats will then be delivered to local families. For more information, call 631-428-6851. (TBRNews)
- Hundreds filled Stony Brook Village Center Sunday, Dec. 5, for the return of an old favorite.
Last year Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s Annual Holiday Festival had to be canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions. This year the event returned for the 42nd year. From 12-6 p.m., the shopping center was filled with activities including performances, music from WALK 97.5, a petting zoo and more. (TBRNews) - If you've been to The History Center at Three Village Historical Society, you'll recognize the corner cabinet in the main exhibit room and you'll definitely recognize the exterior. Stop in today from 12-2 p.m. and pick up this beautiful ornament, memorializing the c. 1800 house we call home. The ornament, expertly crafted by the folks that make The White House ornaments, is on SALE today for $17.95! Come on in and grab one for your tree and possibly a few more for friends and family as a special gift. (Three Village HS)
- Police say a burglar stole a safe containing New York State inspection stickers from an auto repair shop last month on Long Island. Suffolk County Police released a photo of the man they’re searching for Monday. The break-in happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 22 at Atlantis Auto Repair on Jericho Turnpike in East Northport. (CBS New York)

- Thousands met in downtown Islip on Saturday night to watch the annual Santa parade on Main Street, which was followed by a Christmas tree lighting outside town hall. - The Riverhead Town advisory committee focused on the implementation of legal recreational marijuana products will hold its first meeting tomorrow. The meeting will be focused on identifying locations where the town wants marijuana businesses prohibited, including near schools, churches, parks and town facilities, according to Councilman Ken Rothwell, who Supervisor Yvette Aguiar named to lead the advisory committee.
