Here are the top stories today in Three Village:

1. On Sunday, Dec. 5, participants of the Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s Holiday Tree Competition brought festive cheer to the Stony Brook Village Center and decorated 50 premium balsam trees that will line the open-air center’s walkways at the 42nd annual Holiday Festival. One tree will be selected by votes from the public between Sunday, Dec. 5 and Monday, Dec. 20 to win a $150 gift certificate to Stony Brook Village and its establishments. 2. Three Village Minnesauke Elementary School fifth graders sought inspiration from the popular children’s book “Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy’s Parade” by Melissa Sweet during a recent creative English language arts project. After reading the book, the students selected another children’s book of their choosing and created peer reviews of the publications. (Three Village School District)
3. Save the date for the "After Hours" Three Village Chamber of Commerce Holiday Party! The event will be hosted at Mario's Restaurant in East Setauket on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $50 for members and $55 Non-member and at the door. (Three Village Chamber Of Commerce)
4. Through interactive demonstrations and historic bike and walking video tours, Three Village Historical Society Education Department makes the exciting, vibrant history of Long Island, including General Washington's Culper Spy Ring (1778-1783), come alive for students.
