Here are the top stories today in Three Village:

  1. A brand new airline is coming to MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma. The airline is called “Breeze Airways” and JetBlue founder David Neeleman is behind it. The airline and the airport are set to make the announcement today. It is not clear exactly where the flights will be headed and when they will begin. (News 12 New Jersey)
  2. The Ward Melville Heritage Organization (WMHO) presents a new seasonal walking tour titled “Winter Walks Through Time” that will feature stories passed down through the ages and new interpretations of Stony Brook Village from indigenous people to modern day marketing. Participants in the walking tour will enjoy new stories about Stony Brook Village and its former residents. Tours will leave from the Stony Brook Post Office at 129 Main St. on Friday, Dec. 10 at 10:50 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. Tickets for this event are $15 per person and includes hot chocolate from Stony Brook Chocolate. Reservations are required by calling the Ward Melville Heritage Organization at 631-751-2244. (TBRNews)
  3. Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a Hauppauge hotel employee who died after falling from a window at the hotel. David Lerner, an employee of the Hyatt Regency Long Island, located at 1717 Motor Pkwy., was at work when he fell from an upper floor window to the ground. (smithtownmatters)
  4. W.S. Mount Elementary School second grade students used their love of literacy to spark a creative, grade-level, fall-themed display at the school. After reading the book “Waltz of the Scarecrows” by Constance McGeorge, each class created a scarecrow of their own that resembled those in the book. The story is about a young girl who helps to create fancy scarecrows who come to life during a secret annual Harvest Ball. (Three Village School District)

  • Ruth’s Chris Steak House, the country’s largest high-end steak chain, is expanding its presence on Long Island with new restaurants in Lake Grove and Melville. The former, which takes over the old Bonefish Grill space at Smith Haven Mall, is scheduled to open today. Ruth’s Chris says that the latter, which will be located in what used to be Bertucci’s on Route 110, is slated for late January. (Newsday)
  • Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Selden. Anthony Lepore was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado northbound on College Road and made a left turn onto Middle Country Road when the vehicle struck Linda Evangelista who was crossing Middle County Road in the crosswalk.
