- Gov. Kathy Hochul is enacting a new mask mandate as COVID-19 cases surge across the state. The governor announced that businesses and venues will need to implement a mask requirement or require proof of fully vaccinated status. The new mandate starts Monday and remains in effect until Jan. 15. (News 12)
- Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro, Supervisor Ed Romaine and Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich joined with residents and community members for the ribbon-cutting of a new sidewalk installed along West Meadow Road and Trustees Road from Mt Grey Road to the entrance of West Meadow Beach. Funding for this project, which cost approximately $283,000, was fully covered by a grant from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). (TBRNews)
- With the help of art teacher Michele Muzzonigro, Setauket Elementary School sixth graders helped to decorate the school with original pieces of artwork. To help bolster the spirit of the season, the students created wonderful winter villages throughout the building. They painted the scenes on windows using tempera paint. - The Stony Brook Fire Department's Christmas Parade is set for Dec. 18. It will run from about 4:30-8:30 p.m. Residents living on dead ends and cul-de-sacs were advised to view the parade from the nearest corner. "Listen for our sirens and look for our lights," officials wrote in a recent Facebook post. Candy canes will not be distributed this year, nor will firefighters be accepting gifts. - Stony Brook Village Center last Sunday celebrated its 42nd annual Christmas tree lighting and holiday festival. Head of multimedia Andrew Theodorakis was on the scene to capture moments from the day. Click on the link to see scenes of the event. (Greater Long Island)

- Boats all decked out in holiday cheer hit the waters last month for the 2021 Babylon Cove Light Parade. The parade, which took place on Nov. 27, made a big circle in the Babylon Cove, passing by the Babylon Village Dock, the Babylon Village Pool, and the Babylon Yacht Club.(Greater Long Island)
- Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty will soon be moving its Huntington office to a new location. After several decades at its office at 187 Park Ave., the brokerage firm will be relocating its Huntington headquarters to a 2,800-square-foot office at the corner of Main Street and New York Avenue.
