- Don't forget to vote in the Stony Brook Village Center 32nd Annual Scarecrow Competition. You can vote for the best masterpiece through Oct .26. Winners will be notified on Oct. 28. The first place wins a cash reward. (Stony Brook Village)
- Twenty-two license plate readers are expected to be installed on various spots on the Southern State Parkway. According to officials, the readers will help police identify drivers with arrest warrants and give feedback on traffic situations. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
- Three Village student-athletes received free cardiovascular screenings this month. About 120 healthy workers gathered at Ward Melville High School last weekend to ensure that 400 teens are in good health condition to practice sports and play for the district. The event aimed to bring awareness to cardiac health in the athlete community. (TBR News Media)
- The Ward Melville Heritage Organization presents the new garden on the Jennie Melville Village Green in Stony Brook Village. PSEG Long Island donated $2,300 to be invested in improvements such as shrubs, flowers, and plants. (TBR News Media)

- Three Village Patch: "About 24 percent of the 1,150 respondents in a study of Long Island's LGBTQ+ community contemplated suicide within the past three years, and about a third of them thought about self-harm, Stony Brook University officials said Friday." (Patch)
