Arrest Made In Moped-Mounted UES Muggers, Two Still At Large: NYPD
Police have arrested one suspect in Midtown who they say is connected to at least nine of the 23 total muggings.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man connected to a string of brazen moped-mounted muggings has been arrested, police announced Tuesday.
Jamari Johnson, 21, was arrested on Oct. 28 and charged with robbery and grand larceny, according to officials.
Police also announced that an additional mugging on Oct. 18 in Midtown is connected to 22 other reports of moped-riding crooks stealing purses from women across Manhattan — including at least 10 muggings in the Upper East Side.

The Oct. 18 incident took place at around 11:30 a.m. on Sixth Avenue near West 46th Street while a string of six reportedly connected moped muggings took place in the Upper East Side.
Officials said that three of the victims were injured, with one person ending up in the hospital for minor injuries.
Those six muggings took place between 11:10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. across Lenox Hill, police said in October, making it unlikely that the same two people were involved in the Midtown mugging the same day.
Three of those Upper East Side robberies took place at about 20 and 15 minutes before — and another less than 10 minutes after — the Oct. 18 Midtown mugging, which took place over two miles south.
While police reported that two people were involved in all but one of the 23 muggings, investigators said they were currently only looking for two additional suspects.
When first reported, police released images of two people they say are connected to the incidents, showing two men on a black and also a blue moped.
Officials added that one of the men was most recently seen wearing a black jacket with fur on the hood.
