"We noticed a slight lack of really good coffee in the neighborhood and when we were presented with the opportunity we couldn’t pass it up," Jeremy Lyman, the co-founder of Birch Coffee, told Patch. "The first apartment I ever lived in back in 2000 was on 78th and York and I have been in love with the area since then."

To celebrate its opening, the cafe is giving all customers 25 percent off their order, if they can tell a knock-knock joke to the barista, until Friday, March 28.
