Breads Bakery Donates Money To Israel With Heart-Shaped Challah

Starting tomorrow, a heart-shaped challah at Breads citywide will be sold to raise money for emergency hospitals in Israel.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Breads Bakery is helping to spread hearts.

At least heart-shaped challah, the proceeds of which will go towards emergency medical services in Israel.

"Starting tomorrow, heart shaped challah will be available in all Breads Bakery locations in NYC, as well as for delivery all around the city on Fridays," reads an Instagram post from Israeli baker Ben Siman Tov, who has teamed up with Breads Bakery to raise funds for Israeli victims of the attacks by Hamas militants over the weekend.

The project is called "Strand With Us," in reference to the strands of challah layered and braided together in each loaf.

Breads Bakery will sell the heart-shaped challahs on Fridays, starting on Oct. 13.

"We braided this heart shaped challah to express our solidarity and support for those affected by these tragic events in Israel," Siman Tov's post reads. "Challah is a symbol of unity," he writes in another.

All proceeds from the heart-shaped challah will be donated to Magen David Adom, Israel’s National Emergency Pre-Hospital Medical and Blood Services Organization.

Breads Bakery has five Manhattan locations, including on the Upper East Side on Third Avenue and East 74th Street.
