Burglar Swipes Electronics From UES Restaurant, Police Say

A thief broke into and Lexington Avenue Japanese restaurant and stole items valued at more than $3,000.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Police are searching for a burglar who forced his way into an Upper East Side restaurant and stole valuable electronics from the business, an NYPD spokesperson said.

An employee at Ajisai Japanese Fusion on Lexington Avenue and East 62nd Street came into work on Monday, Jan. 20 and discovered that property was missing from the business, police said. Investigators reviewed security camera footage from the restaurant, which revealed a man had forced his way into the business through a locked front door the night before, police said.

Once inside, the man swiped electronics valued at $3,300 and then fled the scene, police said. No arrests have been made in connection with the robbery, and the investigation remains ongoing, an NYPD spokesperson said.

Police recently released photos of the suspect, who is described as a man in his 30s or 40s.
