UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The onslaught of treats in the Upper East Side continues.

Caroline's Donuts, a popular Brooklyn-based donut shop, opened its doors in Yorkville to welcome the neighborhood to their donut palace, according to their Instagram.

Early images on social media showed a line out the door just minutes after the shop opened at 9 a.m.

Caroline's Donuts quickly got attention for their take on the popular donut-croissant hybrid, the Cronut, which took New York City by storm years ago.

Their iteration, called the DoughCro, is different from the original, and has proven to be similarly popular.

Other unique donut offerings include flavors and fillings like Orange Cream Cheese, mango, lemon, banana and apricot.

But even the donuts themselves are different.

“In the south of France we have beignets, and they are very similar, so I said why don’t we do donuts,” French owner Caroline Lameda told Brownstoner in 2022. “It’s a beignet in the shape of a donut, and we have our own recipe.”

Thierry Locatelli and Lameda first opened Caroline's Donuts in Brooklyn over a year ago after pivoting from a plan to sell exclusively wholesale.

A second location in the Upper East Side makes sense, since the couple lives in the neighborhood, according to East Side Feed.

The new location at 1631 Second Ave., between East 84th and 85th streets, has enough space to make their donuts onsite — and for customers to watch the magic, they told the local news site.
