UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Don't bite the hand that guards what feeds you.
This advice goes out to the pair of thieves who bit the hand of an Upper East Side Whole Foods security guard Saturday as, just steps away, the annual Third Avenue Festival drew neighbors together, according to police.
The crooks —an unidentified man and woman — came into the upscale Third Avenue grocer between East 87th and 88th streets about 1:40 p.m. and started to take items from the shelves, officials said.

As they tried to leave without paying for the goods, a security guard confronted the thieves, police said.
That's when one of the robbers, police couldn't clarify which, decided to take a bite out of law and order, according to police.

After the criminal chomp, the pair fled the store in an unknown direction, police said.
The bizarre and disturbing attack, first reported by Upper East Site, left the security guard with minor injuries and was treated at the scene by first responders, officials said.
Police said the duo is still on the loose and at the time of publication, had no description, images or further information about the suspects to share.
