DoorDash Covers Delivery Fees For Mount Sinai Hospital Workers
42,000 workers get unlimited free delivery in a partnership to benefit healthcare workers on the front lines of the coronavirus crisis.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — On-demand delivery company DoorDash is partnering with the Mount Sinai Health System to offer unlimited free delivery to the hospital's entire workforce of more than 42,000 employees, the delivery company announced Tuesday.
DoorDash will be covering fees when Mount Sinai workers order meals using subscriptions provided by the San Fransisco-based company, DoorDash announced. The partnership also includes $15,000 in gift cards to provide free meals to hospital workers due to a donation by a Norwegian video communications company called Neat.
"The daily acts of heroism from first responders, doctors and nurses during this unprecedented time show the best of humanity, and it’s incumbent upon us to give back and help support them. DoorDash appreciates all that the incredible team at Mount Sinai has contributed to serving the community, and we hope this can help make their day a little easier," Tony Xu, CEO and Co-Founder of DoorDash, said in a statement.

The free "DashPass" corporate subscriptions will be offered to Mount Sinai doctors, nurses and hospital workers for 60 days, with DoorDash extending the offer for as long as hospitals continue to treat coronavirus patients. In addition to free delivery fees, the subscription will also feature reductions in service fees and other subscriber-only benefits.
"Thanks to the heroic efforts of our physicians, nurses, trainees, students and other health care professionals on the frontline, we will win this fight against this virus. The Mount Sinai community is working around the clock to save as many lives as possible. The support from DoorDash and others is critical," Kenneth Davis, president and CEO of Mount Sinai Health System, said in a statement.

Earlier this week Davis announced that he and the entire health system's executive team will be taking 50% pay cuts to offset costs incurred by efforts to treat coronavirus patients and provide proper equipment to its staff.
Mount Sinai also recently launched a fundraising drive to buy much-needed medical equipment such as ventilators, antibody tests and personal protective equipment such as gowns, face shields and masks. A lack of protective equipment at Mount Sinai West was blamed for the death of an assistant nurse manager who fell ill with coronavirus in March.
