Fake Friends Rob Teenage Boy On Upper East Side: Police

It was a fun group hang of five friends until four of them jumped and robbed their former buddy, officials said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Apparently five is a crowd, but four is robbery.

Police say that a group of young friends turned on a member of their party Sunday night on Third Avenue on the Upper East Side and robbed him of cash.

At about 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, five friends were hanging out near East 74th Street and Third Avenue when an unspecified disagreement led to a teen getting jumped by his four former buddies, police said.

The teen, a 14-year-old boy, told police he knew his four robbers and that they took cash from him, according to officials.

A department spokesperson could not confirm how much nor if any other property was taken.

The four people fled in an unknown direction on foot, police said.
