UPPER EAST SIDE, NY - A portion of the FDR Drive is closed to southbound traffic Monday after a tractor trailer hit an overpass overnight, officials said.

As of 9 a.m., all southbound lanes on the FDR Drive are still closed until further notice below 91st Street, according to 511NY.org.

Authorities told ABC7 the tractor trailer became stuck about 2:30 a.m. Monday as it was driving south near 90th street. All traffic on the FDR Drive is being diverted at 96th Street, the outlet reported.

The roof of the semi truck was “completely sheered off” when it hit the 11-foot overpass, CBS News reported.

As of 8:10 a.m., crews are working to transfer the tractor trailer’s cargo before it can be removed from the roadway, the outlet reported.
