UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Flames broke out inside a Carnegie Hill apartment building early Monday morning, fire officials said. Firefighters first got the call about a blaze inside the seventh-story unit at 118 East 93rd St. at about 5:50 a.m., according to a department spokesperson. Nearly 80 fire and EMS personnel responded to the nine-story building near Park Avenue, declaring the flames under control about an hour later, according to the FDNY. Officials said there were no injuries and that the cause of the flames remains under investigation.
