Local Hero ER Nurse Treats Patients At Upper East Side Hospital
Hannah Haag serves on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic less than a year after earning her registered nursing certification.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.
This submission highlights Hannah Haag, a registered nurse working at NewYork-Presbyterian's Weill Cornell Hospital on the Upper East Side. Less than one year after earning her RN certification and bachelor's degree, Haag found herself on the front lines of one of the worst coronavirus outbreaks in the world.
Haag's mother, Lynda Haag proudly nominated her as a local hero.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
She is amazing. She started at NYPH in mid-September 2019 and with less than 6 months in her new position. The Pandemic exploded in NYC and within a few days warning the ER’s in the hospitals went from business-as-usual to caring for huge amounts of patients sick with the coronavirus.
Hannah (and all her colleagues) were fighting to save lives with what little information was available about COVID. As each day passed, both the ER Staff at NYPH and the world began putting the pieces together from the wide range of symptoms. I am incredibly proud of Hannah, who at 22 yrs old, was literally on the Front Lines of the massive Pandemic that is COVID-19; less than a year after she graduated with both her RN and BSN.
