Man Fatally Struck By Car On Upper East Side, Police Say
A 29-year-old man was killed by a teenager driving a BMW on Fifth Avenue.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A young man who lived on the Upper East Side was hit and killed by a car in a Fifth Avenue intersection on Wednesday evening, police said.
Justin Batten, 29, was crossing Fifth Avenue at East 97th Street just before 6:30 p.m. when he was struck by a 2015 BMW sedan, police said. Officers responding to the scene of the crash found Batten suffering "severe" injuries to his head and body.
Medics rushed Batten to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The 18-year-old driver of the BMW remained at the scene of the collision and was not charged with a crime, police said. The NYPD's investigation of the collision is ongoing.
