Man Found Dead With Head Trauma In UES Building, Police Say

Police responding to a possible assault this week in the Normandie Court complex found a man with a fatal head wound, authorities said.

Update, Oct. 21: the man's death has been deemed non-suspicious and police do not suspect foul play, the NYPD's 19th Precinct said in a tweet.


UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man was found dead with a head wound on Monday after a possible assault in a Yorkville apartment building, police said.

Someone called the police around 9:30 a.m. Monday to report an assault inside a 16th-floor apartment at 225 East 95th St.: the Normandie Court apartment tower, police said.

Once inside, police found a 39-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive in the hallway, with trauma to the head, police said.

The man was rushed to Metropolitan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities.

The man's cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner, and an investigation is ongoing, police said. The man's name was withheld pending family notification.

Police did not say whether a homicide is suspected. The death was first reported by East Side Feed.
