Man Tries Gunpoint Robbery On Upper East Side Subway: Police

A man took out a gun and tried to rob a fellow passenger on board an Upper East Side subway train this week, according to police.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man tried to rob a passenger at gunpoint on board a train at an Upper East Side subway station, according to police, who released images of the suspect this week.

The victim, a 37-year-old man, was on board an uptown Q train at the 72nd Street-Second Avenue station around 1 a.m. on Oct. 1, police said.

An unidentified man approached and got into an argument with the victim, then took out a firearm and tried to grab the man's watch, according to police.

He was unsuccessful, and ultimately fled via the 96th Street-Second Avenue station, police said.

Police on Wednesday released photos and surveillance footage showing the suspect appearing to push a motorcycle out of a subway elevator.
