Pedestrian Hit By Car On Upper East Side Street: FDNY
A person hit by a vehicle near FDR Drive on Monday night became the fifth pedestrian hit by a car in the neighborhood in the past month.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A person hit by a car on the Upper East Side Monday night became the fifth person to be injured in neighborhood traffic violence over the past two weeks, officials said.
At about 7:45 p.m. on Monday, a person walking near the entrance to the FDR Drive near East 63rd Street was hit by a vehicle, according to the FDNY.
Officials said the victim was brought to New York Presbyterian-Weil Cornell Medical Center just up the street from the collision.

No further details about the victim's condition was shared by officials when asked by Patch, and an NYPD spokesperson said they had no further information about the crash.
The Upper East Side has seen a recent surge in cars hitting pedestrians in the past two weeks, with at least five incidents in total.

Most recently, a person was hit on First Avenue near East 83rd Street on Wednesday.
On Sept. 19, a woman was hit by a pickup truck on East 68th Street and First Avenue.
Just two days later and a block away, an elderly woman was critically injured when a driver — who was later arrested and charged — slammed into her while intoxicated, according to police.
