UES Pedestrian Rushed To Hospital After SUV Hit And Run: Police
At least six pedestrians have been hit and injured by automobile drivers on the Upper East Side since mid-September, police say.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A pedestrian was struck and injured by a driver on an Upper East Side street on Thursday evening, officials said.
At about 7:30 p.m., a person was hit by a vehicle near Third Avenue and East 82nd Street, according to FDNY officials.
The victim, a 39-year-old woman, was crossing Third Avenue when a silver SUV driving on East 82nd Street turned left onto the avenue and smashed into the woman in the crosswalk, police said.

The woman was brought to New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition, officials said, but further details about her injuries could not be confirmed.
A NYPD spokesperson told Patch that the driver operating the silver SUV did not stop after hitting the woman, and proceeded to flee the scene.

No further details on the vehicle were available, according to officials.
There have been at least six pedestrians hit by cars on Upper East Side streets since mid-September.
Five people were injured by car drivers — one critically — over a roughly two-week period.
On Oct. 3, a person walking near the entrance to the FDR Drive near East 63rd Street was hit by a vehicle.
Another person was hit on First Avenue near East 83rd Street on Sept. 26.
The recent trend of traffic violence began on Sept. 19, when a woman was hit by a pickup truck on East 68th Street and First Avenue.
Just two days later and a block away, an elderly woman was critically injured when a driver — who was later arrested and charged — slammed into her while intoxicated, according to police at the time.
According to NYC Crash Mapper, which maps data from the city's Department of Transportation, there have been 26 pedestrian injuries on the Upper East Side since September this year.
