Prepare For Takeoff: New UES Aviation-Themed French Café Opens
L'Avion Café, a new French coffee and pastry shop from veteran Upper East Side operators, is now open.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Now you can take a flight without waiting for the Q70 bus in Queens.
A new French spot in Yorkville called L'Avion Café offers coffee and pastries, with a healthy dose of love for the open skies.
Owned and operated by the same local family behind Indian favorite, The Drunken Munkey, the just-next door café opened last week on East 92nd Street between First and Second avenues to bring well-sourced French scones, croissants, muffins and other treats to the neighborhood.

The aviation-themed café itself is decked out with flight-inspired gear, including propeller fans, a check-in sign at the start of the cashier line, airplane imagery and a screen which displays the weather from airports around the globe in the style of airport gate listings.
But for the owners, the airplane imagery is not just a flight of fancy. Their love of the skies goes beyond the sleek aesthetics — it's in their blood.

"Aviation is in our family," co-owner Arun Mirchandani told East Side Feed, sharing that both he and his partner both fly planes and that their son is currently studying to one day become a commercial pilot.
In addition to the tempting selection of baked goods, an array of drinks are on offer, all at low-altitude prices of under $5.50. East Side Feed reports that the café will soon take off with a full brunch and lunch menu.
Book your next flight for L'Avion Café by visiting them at 338 East 92nd St.
