Robber Threatens To Kill Newsstand Attendant, Makes Off With $2K
Police said a robber on the Upper East Side made off with $2,000 from Tramway Newsstand.
A brazen robber threatened to kill a newsstand worker and made off with $2,000 just steps from the Manhattan Tram Station on July 12, police said.
The suspect approached the Tramway Newsstand at 1147 Second Avenue near East 60th Street, came behind the counter and threatened to kill the attendant if he didn't hand over cash. The victim opened the register and handed over approximately $2,000 and a cell phone. He then fled west on East 60th Street, passing by Dylan's Candy Bar.
All of this happened in the middle of the afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

The man is described as black, about 6-foot tall and 30 to 40 years old. He was seen in security footage, below, wearing a blue T-shirt and green shorts.
