Shoplifter Pulls Knife On Man In UES Store: Police

When a man tried to stop a shoplifter inside of a neighborhood CVS, the crook pulled out a knife, saying "don't touch me."

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Ever heard of personal space?

One Upper East Side crook demanded it — with a knife in hand — when a person tried to interrupt his midday thievery inside of a Lexington Avenue CVS store near East 87th Street, police said.

The crook was pilfering store goods at about noon on Sunday when a person demanded he returned the items, according to officials.

A police spokesperson could not confirm if the intervening person was a worker or a shopper.

The shoplifter shouted "don't touch me," and pulled out a knife in response, police said.

He then fled the store without further incident, officials said.

Police described the man as around five foot 10 inches tall and about 30-years-old.

Officials said the information on the incident was still preliminary and had no further details available as of Monday morning.
