Sutton Place Purse Thief Uses Stolen Card In Queens Smoke Shop: NYPD

A robber used a credit card he stole from an 80-year-old woman to make a $30 purchase at an Astoria smoke shop, police said.

SUTTON PLACE, NY — A man used a credit card he stole from an elderly Sutton Place resident to make a $30 purchase at a Queens smoke shop, police said.

On Nov. 16 at about 9 p.m., a pair of men riding a moped ripped a purse from the grips of an 80-year-old woman on East 56th Street and Second Avenue, police said.

The woman wasn't injured and the duo fled in an unknown direction, according to officials.

But the next day, a credit card belonging to the victim was used at a smoke shop in Astoria, on 21st Street near Broadway, where a man made a $30 purchase, police said.

Police released an image of a person they say used the stolen card, adding that he appeared to be five foot nine inches tall with tattoos on his neck, arms and hands and wearing a white hat with an embroidered Dallas Cowboys star on it.
