UES Car Theft On Park Ave Leads To Bronx Arrest: Police

The car's GPS — and a helicopter — helped find the stolen vehicle and place the suspected thief under arrest, officials said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Car technology and eyes in the sky helped nabbed this Upper East Side car thief, according to police.

Kenneth Claudio, 21, was arrested after stealing a car on Park Avenue near East 86th Street on Wednesday and fleeing to the Bronx, according to officials.

A 25-year-old man had left his car unattended, but running, when Claudio snuck in and drove off at about 1:45 p.m., police said.

Using an app connected to the car's GPS — and a police helicopter — officers from the Upper East Side, Harlem and the Bronx were able to track the stolen car to the Macombs Dam Bridge.

Claudio was arrested and charged with grand larceny auto, unauthorized use of a vehicle and criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
