UPPER EAST SIDE, NY - An Upper East Side doorman came to the rescue of a 24-year-old woman during a violent robbery in the neighborhood Sunday, authorities said.

The victim was walking near Madison Avenue and East 75th Street about 3 p.m. when two assailants approached her, forced her into a headlock and forced her to the ground before taking her cell phone, police said.

Before the attackers could take more items from the victim, the doorman of a nearby building where the victim ran to seek refuge “forced the individuals away,” police said.
