Upper East Side Cafe Tops 'Best Coffee Shop' List
The popular Lexington Avenue coffee shop is the first mentioned in a new list of the "best coffee shops in New York City" by EaterNY.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Is this Upper East Side café one of the best spots for coffee in New York City?
According to a new list by Eater NY of their favorite places for a cup of joe, it sure is.
In a new roundup by the foodie website titled "The Best Coffee Shops in New York City," one Upper East Side spot made the list of delectable java houses.

The café, Variety Coffee Roasters on Lexington Avenue and East 85th Street, didn't only get a shout out on the list, but was the first coffee shop to be mentioned out of the roughly 20 shops on the list.
Eater calls the café — one of eight Variety locations across the city — a "popular shop" that offers the trademark "nutty, chocolatey roasts" that Variety is known for.

The website notes that Variety owner Gavin Compton also runs a diner in Greenpoint called Three Decker — not to be confused with Second Avenue's 3 Decker diner on the Upper East Side.
Since opening in 2018, the Upper East Side location of Variety Coffee Roasters has made other top-coffee lists from Eater NY, often as the sole representative of the neighborhood's diverse coffee shop scene.
