Doaba Deli opened in 2010 and its Yelp profile notes the owner has a presidential fan in Bill Clinton, which Patch was unable to confirm as the owner was unavailable when we called.

It serves authentic Punjabi food, including Aloo Gabi with potatoes, cauliflower and spices; samosas, lentil soup, and more.

Columbia University students can also receive discounts if they show their school ID.

"This worn but loved, double storefront deli is named after a region of Punjab, and was opened by Inderjit Singh over a decade ago," Eater NY wrote. "The steam table displays all that’s available that day, with a preponderance of vegetarian dishes, though chicken and the occasional goat or lamb curry are also available."

Baazi: 2588 Broadway

Formerly known as Awadh, Baazi has been serving Upper West Siders for years in the community.

The menu serves up cuisine from Jaipur, India, to Morocco to different parts of the Middle East.

The cuisine includes lentil dumplings, kebabs, glazed lamb ribs, shrimp, and more.

The restaurant has a large two-story space with a quieter option on the second floor and more of a lively option on the ground floor.

"Many dishes have modern flourishes, including chicken sirka pyaaz in a sauce of vinegar-pickled onions, and paneer ke sholey, fresh cheese stuffed with raisins, arriving aflame over a brazier," Eater NY wrote about the Upper West Side eatery.
